The Washington Aviation Group assists companies in developing, implementing, auditing and improving Safety Management Systems.
A Safety Management System can be a useful tool that permits a business' senior management to effectively manage safety and compliance within the organization. It can provide specific benefits in areas like proactive risk mitigation and effective (data-driven) change management.
Our staff has been involved in the development of Safety Management guidance and regulations on three continents, and we've worked with companies on the development and maintenance of effective Safety Management Systems.
Your Safety Management System should do more than just 'tick-a-box.' It should provide safety value, compliance value, and management value. It should be a useful tool to manage and measure company safety and compliance efforts. We have assisted companies in the development of both regulated and unregulated Safety Management Systems, and we would love to work with you to develop a Safety Management System that meets your goals.

Our SMS Experience:
The Washington Aviation Group team has served on FAA SMS rulemaking teams and supported SMS rulemaking efforts around the world. We've helped to develop SMS guidance, like SM-0001. We've assisted companies in developing SMS programs in early-adopter countries (like Japan), and we've assisted companies in developing unregulated SMS programs. We've supported education and awareness for the new manufacturing and maintenance SMS requirements in Europe and the United States. We've also spoken extensively on a wide range of SMS topics.
We've also written many articles on SMS; here are links to a few of them:
